Home Safety and Security Tips

safety and security

The safety and security of your home are not entirely out of your hands. By taking a few precautions, you can greatly reduce your risk of burglary, robbery, and other home-related crimes.

The entry points to your home are the most vulnerable to intrusion, so adequately secure all of your doors and windows. Doors should have deadbolt locks, and you may want to put bars over your windows. Remember to secure sliding-glass doors especially well.

Secondly, install an alarm system in your home that alerts the authorities when a security breach is detected. Not only will the sound of the alarm scare the thief, but the automatic dialing of 911 will also get the police there faster.

Finally, think about starting a neighborhood watch program. You and your neighbors can take turns monitoring the neighborhood and immediately reporting suspicious activity.
